- Named by the benefactor, The Calyx scholarship honors of the daughter of former UWRF Teacher Education professor, Dr. David Pepi. When Calyx Pepi was young she attended Montessori School and especially loved gardening with her father. The botanical term, calyx, refers to the part of the flower at the base that protects and supports it.
